- ║ DESIGNING REPORT HEADERS ║
- ║ (USE WITH CLIENT HISTORY) ║
- ║ ║
- ║ Sometimes it is necessary to print out collected information, ║
- ║ often called hard copy paper trails or reports. ║
- ║ ║
- ║ Since you know who the client is when you edit a Client history ║
- ║ file, there is generally no need to create a name header. However ║
- ║ a printed report may require a header. To quickly create an ║
- ║ account header you can, once in HISTORY use <Ctrl> <T> ║
- ║ ║
- ║ (Note: Ctrl T can also be used from the word processor) ║
- ║ ║
- ║ Notice you get Date, Letterhead, Time and Section Line. Here's ║
- ║ the section line which serves as a divider for this example. ║
- ║ ║
- ║ ------------------------------------------------------------------- ║
- ║ After you press Ctrl T ║
- ║ =================================================================== ║
- ║ Press <D> - you get a calendar - Press <enter> ║
- ║ Press <T> - you get computer set time - ║
- ║ Press <L> - you will get letter head - ║
- ║ Press <S> - you get the section line - ║
- ║ so now your header will look like this ║
- ║ =================================================================== ║
- ║ May 1, 1991 ║
- ║ 1:09pm ║
- ║ Mr. W.H Younger ║
- ║ Professional Systems Inc ║
- ║ 7995 Old Holland ║
- ║ Harrisburg, NC 28075 ║
- ║ ║
- ║ Dear Mr. < Delete with Ctrl Y if you are not writing a letter ║
- ║ ║
- ║ You can arrange companion sidebars that are relative ║
- ║ to the record with a macro you designed which avoids ║
- ║ many keystrokes. Or you can pull in a formatted ║
- ║ header with RETRIEVE (see F8.UHF) ║
- ║ ║
- ║ Enter your memorandum below the section line as appropriate. ║
- ║ ║
- ║ Save with F2 ║
- ║ ║
- ║ Look at SMPLERPT.UHF to see how the header in History could be ║
- ║ designed. ║
- ║ ║
- ║ There is no limit as to how many history headers you can design ║
- ║ and use. Keep in mind you may not want to print all. You can ║
- ║ use printer formats to make your report look right on paper. ║
- ║ ║
- ║ The quick way to extract and format a report as follows: ║
- ║ ║
- ║ Format the the printer with <F10> or load your printer ║
- ║ command you have previously set and saved. For example ║
- ║ if you have a laser printer and your format command is LASER ║
- ║ at <O> enter LASER ║
- ║ ║
- ║ Procedure: ║
- ║ ║
- ║ 1. To block a section for your report Press <F8> ║
- ║ 2. Move through the account history and stop where you want ║
- ║ the report to end. ║
- ║ 3. Press <F8> ║
- ║ 4. At the window choose PRINT ║
- ║ ║
- ║ Now the report comes out exactly as you have formatted the ║
- ║ block mode. If you want to further edit the report you can ║
- ║ at this point. ║
- ║ ║
- ║ SEE SMPLERPT. UHF for a look at something similar ║
- ║ ║
- ║ ----------------------------------------------------------------- ║
- ║ Reports can be very involved or contain a few lines. How you ║
- ║ prepare the report file depends on the related conditions. ║
- ║ ║
- ║ Printing the block leaves the entire file intact. If you want ║
- ║ to 'clean' the record for the new year, but you want to save ║
- ║ the record, ║
- ║ use F8 to block all and save to a file name with <W> (write). ║
- ║ ║
